AML is a very aggressive and rare type of cancer in which the bone marrow makes an abnormal amount of blood cells. People started calling her “RachelStrong” because she showed so much strength and courage throughout her 20 months of treatment. She passed away at MSKCC on August 30, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Rachel loved life, her family and friends. She laughed a lot and had a passion for dance and summer camp. AML is a very aggressive and rare type of cancer in which the bone marrow makes an abnormal amount of blood cells.
